Reserve service included teaching criminal and constitutional law to cadets at West Point during the two-week inter-sessions in January 1990 and 1991. Judge Advocate General's Corps, United States Army, 1982 - 1987 Lieutenant, October 1982 to April 1983 Captain, April 1993 to August 1987 Honorable Discharge, August 1987 1986 - 1987: Assistant Staff Judge Advocate, Administrative Law Section Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Ft. Carson, Colorado Provided oral and written advice to commanders and litigated cases before administrative bodies on EEO, labor relations, administrative discharges, and other matters of federal administrative law. Supervised office of legal assistants handling administrative discharges, including reviewing all discharges for legal sufficiency. Taught federal administrative law to commanders. 1986 - 1987: Assistant Staff Judge Advocate, Criminal Law Section, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Ft. Carson, Colorado Prosecuted crimes including larceny, burglary, assault, and military discipline offenses. Advised company, battalion and brigade commanders on criminal investigations and charges. Taught criminal law to commanders. 1984 - 1985: Assistant Staff Judge Advocate, 1st Armored Division, Germany Prosecuted all criminal trials of offenses committed by soldiers assigned to the Division Artillery, including rape, forcible sodomy, robbery, larceny, ATM theft, child abuse, aggravated assault, drug distribution, and military discipline offenses. Advised company, battalion, and brigade commanders on all criminal investigations and charges, as well as administrative matters. Taught classes to commanders in military law and on conducting and writing reports of investigations. Reviewed investigation reports for legal sufficiency. Taught soldiers criminal law and international law of war. 1982 - 1984: Trial Defense Counsel, U.S. Trial, Defense Service, Nuernberg, Germany Advised and defended soldiers in criminal prosecutions of rape, robbery, negligent homicide, aggravated assault, larceny, burglary, attempted murder, child physical abuse, child sexual assault, drug distribution, and military discipline offenses. Advised soldiers on non-judicial punishment charges. Taught criminal and military law to commanders and soldiers. |
